Behold: Robert De Niro, not even 30 years old, twirling around as
he auditions for the part of Sonny in "The Godfather."

He's got the
wardrobe down, but -- as various Redditors have noted
-- De Niro seems a bit too confident to play the unpolished mobster who
James Caan was eventually chosen to portray. Despite the setback, it
all worked out: if De Niro had nailed the audition, he would never
played young Vito Corleone in "The Godfather Part II," a role that
earned De Niro his first Oscar.
