Liam Hemsworth: Jennifer Lawrence Gets It Right When It Comes to Looking Sexy

Jason Merritt/Getty Images
No need to rack your brain trying to figure out what's sexy to Liam Hemsworth. The answer was standing right next to him last night.
"I'd say just do what Jen does," he suggested Monday at the Los Angeles premiere of Catching Fire when E! News asked about Jennifer Lawrence's recent comments about how showing off too much isn't that hot—and whether he agreed.
"I agree with her. I would say exactly that," added Hemsworth, whose ex-girlfriend of course happens to be Miley Cyrus, the skin-baring starlet Lawrence was being quizzed about when she said, "Sex sells, and for some disgusting reason young sex sells even more."
(And in other news, Miley recently joined Team Peeta...)
The “Catching Fire” star agrees with Jennifer Lawrence’s stance on not showing off too much skin. Plus, hear about his underwear

Jared Leto: Oscar Is a "Freeballer!"

But the 30 Seconds to Mars rocker wasn't about to wear a traditional tux to the Governors Awards this weekend.
Instead, he opted to put together a chic hodge-podge ensemble with Burberry and some of his own clothing.
"I get a hall pass," Leto said on the Governors red carpet. "I could basically do whatever the f--k I want to. I'm a respectful young boy, but you gotta be yourself."

He also wore his signature block boots. "I wear them every day," Leto said. "You gotta be comfortable. I got off a flight three hours ago. I flew in from London where we're doing an arena tour of Europe and the U.K. and now I'm here on the red carpet."
Leto deflects talk about the Oscar buzz he's getting for his work as a transexual individual with AIDS opposite Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner in the Dallas Buyers Club.

He laughed, "He's a freeballer. And he's got a very big sword so there are lots of Freudian things happening right here."
He added, "It's nuts. They don't give Oscars to people like me!"
Joking aside, Leto, of course, appreciates the support of not only his performance, but of the movie, too.
"It's surreal," he said. "It's so great. I'll tell you what—anybody that has anything negative to say about the process needs to see a doctor. There are much worse things to do than have your film supported and celebrated."
And to think the last time Leto acted was about six years ago.
"I hadn't made a film in so long, I'm lucky I remembered how to act, to tell you the truth," he said. "I just dove in deep and did that best that I could."

'Real Housewives' stars Teresa and Joe Giudice face new fraud charges

"Real Housewives of New Jersey" stars Teresa and Joe Giudice face new bank fraud charges.

Teresa and Joe Giudice of the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" have been charged with conspiracy to commit bank, mail and wire fraud, making false statements on loan applications and bankruptcy fraud. They aren't the only stars of the popular Bravo franchise to have legal troubles.
The reality TV couple could spend decades in prison if convicted on the 41 counts alleged in an indictment returned by a federal grand jury in New Jersey.
The Giudices allegedly faked documents and lied on applications to get more than $5 million in loans over eight years before they joined the "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" cast in 2009.
They both entered "not guilty" pleas in August to the original 39 counts, including conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications, and bankruptcy fraud.
The husband and wife are due in court in Newark for the added charges on Wednesday, according to U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman. The new counts stem from a $361,250 mortgage loan that Teresa Giudice, 41, got in 2005, Fishman said.
"In the course of obtaining the loan, she and Giuseppe Giudice prepared a loan application which falsely stated that Teresa Giudice was employed as a realtor and that she had a monthly salary of $15,000," Fishman said. "Teresa Giudice was not employed outside the home at the time."
Giudice lawyer Miles Feinstein told reporters in August that the couple would not be testifying against each other in the case, which he said they expect to win.

'It's a Wonderful Life' sequel underway

The sequel on Frank Capra's classic Christmas tale will focus on George Bailey's grandson, who doesn't have such a wonderful life

George Bailey had such a wonderful film life that he's getting a sequel.
The sequel, titled It's A Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story, is expected in theaters for the 2015 holiday season.
It has a bit of the original movie's magic with a twist.
Karolyn Grimes, who played George Bailey's daughter Zuzu in the original, will return for the sequel as an angel who shows Bailey's unlikable grandson (also named George Bailey) how much better off the world would have been had he never been born.
"The new film will retain the feeling of the original, and it simply must be shared," Grimes said. "I've probably read close to 20 scripts over the years suggesting a sequel to It's a Wonderful Life but none of them were any good."
Producer Bob Farnsworth and Martha Bolton have written the screenplay. There was no word on who would play the new George Bailey. They are big shoes to fill.
The original Bailey, who despondently tries to kill himself before an angel shows him how bad life would be without him, was played by Jimmy Stewart.

A new production of the musical with score by U2's Bono and the Edge planned for Las Vegas

The most expensive Broadway musical in history is about to turn off the lights.

Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark —- the (estimated) $75 million musical that made news long before it opened with backstage drama, delays, cast injuries and critical pans — will close in January, it was announced Monday night. But a new production of the show, which features a score by U2's Bono and the Edge and was co-created and originally directed by Julie Taymor, is planned for Las Vegas.
Spider-Man opened on June 14, 2011, after a record 182 preview performances. By then, Taymor had been driven out of the production, and creative consultant Philip William McKinley and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa were brought in to revise her vision and the book she co-wrote with Glen Berger.
The show nonetheless enjoyed very healthy ticket sales for a good chunk of its run, frequently reaping more than $1 million a week. But production costs were high, and grosses had been down recently.
Berger published a memoir of the show's growing pains, Song of Spider-Man: The Inside Journey of the Most Controversial Musical in Broadway History, earlier this month. And there had been news of another cast injury in August, when Daniel Curry's right foot got caught in a lift; it was fractured, along with both his legs.
In an official statement, spokesman Rick Miramontez confirmed that Spider-Man would end its "historic Broadway run," but noted, "We are excited to report that the next destination for Spider-Man will be the entertainment capital of the world: Las Vegas. Further details will be announced in the weeks to come."

'Selfie' named word of the year for 2013

Oxford Dictionaries' word of the year for 2013 definitely captures a snapshot of our social-media-obsessed moment.

In case you don't know what a selfie is, Oxford Dictionaries defines it as:
(n.) a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website.
It's not a new word -- its origins date to a 2002 posting in an Australian Web forum, according to Reuters -- but that doesn't matter. "The Word of the Year need not have been coined within the past 12 months and it does not have to be a word that will stick around for a good length of time," Judy Pearsall, editorial director for Oxford Dictionaries, tells Reuters.

The actress, at 62, looks back on her childhood and early modeling career.

Anjelica Huston has lived a big, colorful life — big and colorful enough to fill two volumes of an autobiography.

The first, A Story Lately Told: Coming of Age in Ireland, London and New York (Scribner), goes on sale Tuesday. It begins with her unconventional childhood and ends when she has started modeling and is in a deeply troubled relationship with fashion photographer Bob Richardson.
"It's funny," says the actress, who has won an Oscar, famously made the Hollywood scene with Jack Nicholson, and most recently made a splash (literally, as cocktail-tossing producer Eileen Rand) on the now-canceled NBC series Smash.
"There are times in one's life when people start to ask you questions, like, 'When are you going to have a baby?' " says Huston, 62, who never had a child. "And in this case, it was, 'When are you going to write your book?' This idea cropped up quite a lot, particularly in the last four or five years since my husband's death, and I think actually it's been very cathartic."
Huston, who laughs easily and often, is calling from Venice, Calif., where she lives with a menagerie of cats and dogs. Her husband of 16 years, sculptor Robert Graham, died in 2008.
On this day at the beach, she reports, the sky has "that blank look that skies take on in November in California, where it's not sunny but it's not anything else either."

'Dancing With the Stars' bad boy Maksim Chmerkovskiy plays good-guy judge

Maksim Chmerkovskiy, the "Dancing With the Stars" pro who earned a reputation as the bad boy of the ballroom, came back from his two-season break to act as guest judge in Monday's semifinals. But if fans were expecting him to bring his old intensity and often-argumentative attitude with him, then they were no doubt disappointed.

Sporting a squeaky-clean look — complete with a Bill Nye-worthy bow tie — Maks squeezed in between the regular panelists and played nice. Really nice.
When he wasn't politely smiling at a hands-on and admittedly "hot and bothered" Bruno Tonioli, he found himself agree with former foil Carrie Ann Inaba several times — an unexpected turn of events he jokingly referred to as "disturbing." As for Len Goodman, Maks got along with the head judge better than ever before.
When dealing with the stars, the returning pro offered mostly positive critiques, and he had even higher praise for their pros, including his former fiancée Karina Smirnoff.

Adam Levine and Blake Shelton go from duet to duel on 'The Voice'

If "The Voice" bromancers Adam Levine and Blake Shelton had to describe their relationship status on Facebook, they'd probably say "it's complicated."

Image: Blake Shelton and Adam Levine on The Voice
Halfway through Monday's Top 10 performance show, the duo were writing a sure-fire hit song in response to a viewer tweet. That all changed in the drop of a hat (or rather, mic), with one threatening to kill his rival.
At first, everyone played nicely. The coaches were generally complimentary of the singers, although most failed to match their previous week's performances.
Then host Carson Daly relayed a question tweeted by one of the show's fans: "Will Adam and Blake do a duet this season?"
"Yeah, we wrote a song together," Adam said. "It's called 'Beer and Family.' It's really great."
That collaboration looked like it was news to Blake, but he was willing to give it a shot. "Sing a little bit of that for him," he told Adam.
"All I need is beer and family," sang Adam with a country twang.
"Blake, what's your part?" Carson asked.
"I actually drink the beer with my family," Blake said. So now we know what the video looks like.
If, that is, there is a video. Because soon afterward Adam took offense at Blake's seemingly innocuous reaction to one of James Wolpert's props.

Why isn't Lady Gaga's 'ARTPOP' getting a sales boost from her 'SNL' appearance?

Critically, she was a relative success, delivering a steady-if-unremarkable stream of sketch moments and sounding mostly excellent on the oft-tricky SNL music stage. The show was rewarded with its highest ratings of the season, and the estimated audience of between eight and nine million viewers is the highest since Justin Timberlake’s double-down episode back in March.
lady-gaga.jpg
And yet Gaga’s new album ARTPOP is only third on iTunes’ download chart, trailing both Eminem and One Direction. And the two singles she performed on Saturday’s show are languishing on the singles chart—the R. Kelly-assisted “Do What U Want” sits outside the top 10 at 14, and “Gypsy” is all the way down at 72.
Under normal circumstances, an appearance on SNL tends to provide a healthy boost to an artist, especially one with a brand new album: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis saw their record sales jump up 83% in the week following their SNL performance earlier this year, Of Monsters & Men experienced a 74% increase, and Alabama Shakes rocketed from the 40s into the top 10 on the Billboard 200.

Robert De Niro's Failed 'Godfather' Audition Will Be The Best 24 Seconds Of Your Day

Behold: Robert De Niro, not even 30 years old, twirling around as he auditions for the part of Sonny in "The Godfather."

Robert Deniro Godfather

He's got the wardrobe down, but -- as various Redditors have noted -- De Niro seems a bit too confident to play the unpolished mobster who James Caan was eventually chosen to portray. Despite the setback, it all worked out: if De Niro had nailed the audition, he would never played young Vito Corleone in "The Godfather Part II," a role that earned De Niro his first Oscar.
Watch below, along with the actual scene from the finished film.

'Catching Fire' Review: New 'Hunger Games' Movie Impresses

A considerable upgrade over the first "Hunger Games" movie, "Catching Fire" comes across more like a remake than a sequel.

catching fire review
In the adaptation of the second installation in Suzanne Collins' young adult trilogy, there's certainly plenty that has changed. Rebellion against the totalitarian rule of President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in the 12 districts of Panum is growing. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) is now a beloved hero with the weight of celebrity on her shoulders. And Philip Seymour Hoffman, bless him, has found his way into the proceedings.
Yet the general plot — a journey from Katniss' poor hometown of District 12 to a climactic game of human hunting in "the arena," with high-speed train rides and training sessions in between — is identical to the first "Hunger Games."
More has shuffled behind the camera, and "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is much the better for it. Francis Lawrence ("I Am Legend") has taken over directing from Gary Ross, whose poor handling of the first film didn't stop it from becoming a sensation. Lawrence has given the film (the budget was nearly doubled) a more settled environment heavy on greys and a more appropriately grave emotional atmosphere. These are kids being forced to kill other kids, the franchise seems to have realized.

"Catching Fire" opens with Katniss back in District 12, haunted by the experiences of her first Hunger Games. There, too, is her flame Gale (Liam Hemsworth), who's slaving away in the mines. (Hemsworth, a nonentity in both films, makes about as convincing a miner as Ben Stiller's Zoolander did.)
But Katniss' success in the Hunger Games was partly due to her for-publicity-sake romance with her co-winner Peeta (Josh Hutcherson, who seems about half the height of the screen-dominating Lawrence). President Snow, aware of the put-on, insists they keep up the charade to help pacify the uprising.
There's an ironic satire of modern celebrity somewhere in "Catching Fire." Katniss has become famous only to find it a trap. As her Hunger Games coach Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) says, "You never get off this train."
Lawrence isn't so different. "The Hunger Games," along with her more interesting work in "Winter's Bone" and "Silver Linings Playbook," has made her an enormous star. She is quite literally "the girl on fire," as Katniss is nicknamed.

Lily Allen Lists 'Bitch' Women Including Herself, Adele, Miley, Rihanna

Lily Allen made waves last week with the release of her boundary-pushing new single, "Hard Out Here." The British singer debuted the song with a tongue-in-cheek new video, poking fun at Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke in the visuals.

lily allen bitch
"Dolly Parton is a bitch," Allen told the publication. "Adele's a bitch. Angela Merkel is a bitch ... Rihanna's an inspiring bitch, my mum, Miley's a bitch, rising. She's my hero. Kate Middleton is not a bitch."
She also criticized the lack of meaning in current pop hits and singers who don't write their own music, saying, "Nobody says anything real today. Most of those girls have their songs written by other people. It annoys me, because 'eh oh eh oh ahh' is not a chorus – that's not a point where I feel 'we're connecting', you know? I need a narrative."

'It's A Wonderful Life' Is Getting A Sequel

Its A Wonderful Life
Released in time for Christmas in 1946, "It's A Wonderful Life" was initially derided by some critics and earned only $3.3 million during its initial box-office run. That said, it’s great that people are so passionate about the show, and it’s great that people are talking about it. It’s great we’re getting the best numbers we’ve ever had. All that accrues to the benefits of 'Homeland,'" he said. "We’re just working as hard as we can to make it as compelling, entertain and true to the characters as we can. Still, Gansa said the Season 3 story has been planned from start to finish. "Everything that has happened this season so far has been in a very large degree much more meticulously planned than the first and second seasons. To hear that we’re wandering in the woods is just hysterical to us," he told THR. "This is the season we’ve been really conscious and diligent about plotting every little piece carefully. One of those pieces is Carrie’s pregnancy and it becomes very important in this last sweep of episodes."
